Terms

These terms apply when you use MakerMap (makermap.lol), run by Pyrean B.V., a company registered in the Netherlands (KvK 66494834), Keizersgracht 391-A, 1016 EJ Amsterdam ("we", "us"). By using the site or claiming a profile, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.

1. What MakerMap is

MakerMap shows makers who introduced themselves publicly on X on a map, with what they build, and suggests makers you might want to meet. Profiles start from public posts. You can claim your profile to verify it, edit it and get a rank. Match suggestions are made automatically and are just suggestions.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 to claim a profile or sign up. If you use MakerMap for a company, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms for it.

3. Your account

• You log in with your X account. Keep it secure: whoever controls it controls your MakerMap profile.
• Only claim your own profile. Claiming someone else's, or impersonating anyone, isn't allowed.
• You're responsible for what you add to your profile, and it must be accurate: your location, products, links and, if you choose to add it, revenue.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of what you post and add. So that we can run MakerMap, you give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, copy, show and share it on MakerMap and in share images and posts about MakerMap, for as long as it is on the site. You confirm you have the right to share what you add, including product names, logos and links.

5. Meeting people

MakerMap suggests people to meet and can help you write a meetup post. We don't check who people are beyond their X account, and we aren't part of any meeting you arrange. Meet in public places, use your judgement, and look after your own safety.

6. Points, ranks and badges

• Points and ranks measure the attention makers send to MakerMap, under the rules on the Rules page. We can change those rules and recalculate points at any time.
• Points have no cash value and can't be sold, transferred or exchanged.
• Don't game them: no bought likes or reposts, bots, fake accounts, mass link posting, or sites set up only to carry the badge. We can remove points, ranks or profiles that break this.
• You may show the "Connect with me on MakerMap" badge on sites you control. Don't change it to mislead people about your rank.

7. What's not allowed

• Breaking the law, or harassing, threatening or spamming anyone you find through MakerMap.
• Scraping or bulk-downloading MakerMap, or using it to build contact lists for unsolicited marketing.
• Interfering with the site, its security or other people's use of it.
• Adding content that is unlawful, infringing, hateful, sexual, or that exposes other people's private information.

8. Paid features: pins and sponsor boats

Payment. Paid pins and sponsor boats are subscriptions, monthly (or, for pins, yearly), charged in US dollars by our payment provider, Stripe, until you cancel. You can change your card, see invoices and cancel under "Manage billing".

Starting at once. A paid pin or boat starts as soon as your payment goes through. You ask for that when you pay, and you agree that your 14-day right to cancel ends once it has started.

Payments are final. A payment buys the period it covers. We don't refund a period you've had, whether you cancel, stop using it, or your boat is removed for breaking these terms. The one exception is being outbid, which turns the part of the period you didn't get into credit, as set out below.

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time. It stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and then stops. Cancelling doesn't refund the period you're in.

Bidding for boat spots. Every boat spot goes to the highest bidder. Anyone can take a spot by bidding at least 20% more than the current bid, at any time. There is no protection period. When your boat is outbid, it comes off the map at once and your subscription stops.

Credit. When you're outbid, the part of your month you didn't get comes back as credit, worked out to the day. Credit comes off your next bid automatically, and you can ask for it back to your card from your sponsor page. Credit expires 90 days after it is given if it hasn't been spent or refunded by then, and each piece of credit has its own 90 days. Credit has no other cash value and can't be transferred.

What a boat shows. A boat shows your own product (its name, the icon from its website, a short line and its link) or your own MakerMap profile. You confirm you have the right to use that name, logo and link. The rules under "What's not allowed" apply, and boats also can't advertise gambling, adult content, financial schemes or anything misleading. We check boats automatically and may hold or remove one. If we remove it, what's left of your month comes back as credit on the same terms.

Placement. A boat's spot and size are as shown when you bid. We don't promise any number of views or clicks, and we may adjust the map, spot positions and zoom levels to keep it readable.

9. Removal

If you're on the map and don't want to be, DM @verbove and we'll remove your profile. We may remove or edit profiles, content or points that break these terms, or at our discretion to keep MakerMap safe and useful.

10. Other services

MakerMap relies on X and links to other sites, including makers' products. We don't control those services and aren't responsible for them. Using X is subject to X's own terms.

11. Our name and site

The MakerMap name, logo, design and code are ours. You may link to MakerMap and use the badge as described above.

12. No guarantees

MakerMap is provided as it is. Profiles, locations, match suggestions and points come from public data and automated processing, and may be incomplete or wrong. We don't guarantee the site will always be available or error-free, and we may change or stop any part of it.

13. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data, or for what other users do, including at meetings arranged through MakerMap. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.

14. Ending

You can stop using MakerMap and ask us to remove your profile at any time. If you have a paid pin or boat, cancel it under "Manage billing"; removing your profile also cancels a profile boat. We can suspend or remove your access if you break these terms.

15. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll update the date at the top and say so on the site. If you keep using MakerMap after that, the new terms apply.

16. Law

These terms are governed by Dutch law. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protections of the law where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.

17. Contact

DM @verbove on X. For a payment, you can also reply to the receipt or any email we sent you about your pin or boat.
